Burton also serves as the part Chair and now senior advisor of the Mentoring Committee for the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, and he is the past Board chair and now current vice chair of the Los Angeles CARES Mentoring Movement.  Captain Burton is the current program manager of the Kappa Leadership Development League of the CLT (CA) Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity inc.

Captain Burton helps the youth and young adults he mentors  gain self-confidence and direction, and resist negative peer pressure. By having Brent as a mentor, they benefit by having someone to lend an ear and lead by example.
